A Bridge between us

bridge

I built a bridge of words to span the gap,

The chasm left when love began to fade.

Each stone I laid in hope, without a map,

Yet still I lost the path that we had made.

Would you return, if only you could see

The strength of what I feel, the depth of care?

Or has the river swept too far from me,

Its currents carrying you elsewhere?

I’ll wait upon the shore, my heart in hand,

A beacon lit to guide you through the night.

For love like ours was never meant to stand

A heart’s confession

Apart, but burn forever, warm and bright.

If you should cross, my arms will hold you fast,

A love reclaimed, unyielding, built to last.
